Pubic Education on Service Dogs – Much Needed

As the number of people with service dogs grow, so does the need for education on service dogs. For years dogs have been trained to provide a service to individuals with disabilities, to include guide dogs, hearing dogs, and mobility dogs. Today, dogs are being trained as service dogs for our veterans with who have PTSD and TBI (traumatic brain injury). As the use of service dogs are increasing I feel it is equally important to increase the education of service dogs.

Looking to provide a gift to a local homeless veteran shelter beyond the clothes that I was planning on donating. I held a few fundraisers to raise the cost of a suite at a Celtics Game. Working with the Celtics, the cost of the suite was reduce to $900, and most of that money was raised through an event held ata local Flat Bread Pizza Restaurant. As a result, a couple truck loads of clothing was delivered as well as tickets for 18 veterans to attend the game on January 5th 2015

Paint Night

A new event feature for the Boston Celtics and The TD Garden, Paint Night. This paint night event support Operation Delta Dog, featured a drawing of a Golden Labrador Retriever wearing a collar with a shamrock. 65 people attended the Paint Night event, and all of them also get a tickets to the Celtics game as well. red-sox-homelessLooking to provide an uplifting and refreshing day for a couple Homeless Veterans I arranged a trip to Fenway Park. Originally the idea was thought to be strictly funded through crowd funding – turned out differently.

Game Day Tickets / Food / Souvenir

What started as looking for a quote for cost of regular game day tickets, a soda, a food item, and a baseball cap. A phone call to the Red Sox opened up an unexpected door. Red Sox front office offered the Gosling’s Dark ‘N Stormy Boardroom, suite valued at $10,000. Plus, a food buffet that included a whole roasted pig, seafood, steak and more. The suite was stocked with soft drinks, peanuts and chips. Near the end of the game staff brought in trays of lobster rolls, hot dogs and cheeseburgers. All 13 veterans who attended left with to-go bags of food, and a Red Sox hat courtesy of the Boston Red Sox. Continue reading
