Memorial Day 2015 / Homeless Veterans
Looking to provide an uplifting and refreshing day for a couple Homeless Veterans I arranged a trip to Fenway Park. Originally the idea was thought to be strictly funded through crowd funding – turned out differently.
Game Day Tickets / Food / Souvenir
What started as looking for a quote for cost of regular game day tickets, a soda, a food item, and a baseball cap. A phone call to the Red Sox opened up an unexpected door. Red Sox front office offered the Gosling’s Dark ‘N Stormy Boardroom, suite valued at $10,000. Plus, a food buffet that included a whole roasted pig, seafood, steak and more. The suite was stocked with soft drinks, peanuts and chips. Near the end of the game staff brought in trays of lobster rolls, hot dogs and cheeseburgers. All 13 veterans who attended left with to-go bags of food, and a Red Sox hat courtesy of the Boston Red Sox.
Funds Raised
Funds raised through the GoFundMe campaign were donated straight to New England Center for Homeless Veterans, and was requested it be put towards their education department and help veterans get the tools they need to get back on their feet. The check of $2,000 was presented to the Community Relations department.
