Flag Day 2016 / Operation Delta Dog
Building support for an organization that focuses on rescuing dogs from shelters and training them to be service dogs for veterans. It seem appropriate to do something with the Red Sox. The goal was to raise awareness, demonstrate training excises, and raise support and gather donations.
Pregame Dog Training Demonstration
As the gates to the ballpark opened, Dog Trainers and Veterans performed training exercises on Yawkey Way to fans attending the game. Demonstrations took place until Field Ceremony started.
Pregame Field Ceremony
During the Field Ceremony for game, 9 veterans and service dogs were honored on the field. Each veteran and service dog were introduced to the crowd and displayed on screen in outfield. A photo of this was featured in the Christian Science Monitor November 2016.
Funds Raised
Seats to the game were sold to supporters of the charity and each seat sold funds were raised. Several thousands of dollars were raised for Operation Delta Dog through tickets sales and through a silent auction held at ‘The Bullpen’ located on Yawkey Way.
Transportation
Transportation was arranged and made available to those interested and whom may of needed it. A local Ford Dealership donated 2 15 passenger vans and Massachusetts State Police provided an escort to the ballpark.
